Automatic light on only works in the dark. It won't turn on under bright light and during the day. There are 2 magnetic strips on the back. One equipped with double-sided adhesive tape and the other fixed in the light. The sensor night light can be easily attached, e.g. in the closet, on the shelves, bed frame, stairs, under the kitchen counter, etc. Powered by 4xAAA micro-pencil alkaline batteries (not included).
